Special Events and Entertainment Manager

PURPOSE

The River Cree Resort and Casino, Alberta’s newest and exciting entertainment destination is looking for a high-energy, creative personality with proven event planning experience to join our team. Working alongside the marketing team, the Event Manager will support key business objectives through the creation of memorable experiences for our customers. The primary focus of this position will be to develop a special events and entertainment strategy for the Resort.  The successful applicant will liaise with vendors, sponsors, internal partners and on site staff to concept and project manage large scale events.

JOB SUMMARY

The primary focus of this position will be to develop a special events and entertainment strategy for the Resort.  The successful applicant will liaise with vendors, sponsors, internal partners and on site staff to concept and project manage large scale events such as concerts, sporting events, galas, gaming events, etc.

• Participate in strategic planning and development of events calendar and entertainment strategy for the Resort.
• Execute/project manage all aspects of event marketing partnerships/sponsorships including leveraging existing event marketing initiatives to create promotional extensions, internal and external communications and measurement of ROI.
• Liaise between 3rd party contractors, booking agents, event planners, organizers, with regards to all facets of the strategic and tactical operations of event organization
• Evaluate sponsorships, partnerships and events in terms of budget considerations, contractual provisions, fit to strategy, and impact to revenue
• Foster relationships with key internal and external partners to protect and enhance the Resort’s brand
• Work with marketing department to develop exciting marketing collateral for events

 

THE INDIVIDUAL

Bachelor's degree in business or marketing or four (4) to six (6) years related experience in marketing, promotions, entertainment, gaming, or hotel industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Must have prior event and entertainment planning, booking, coordinating and supervisory experience and liaison with, and oversee contracted entertainment booking agency.

• Creative flair with an ability to entertain and create branded experiences
• Knowledge and understanding of event planning principles
• Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements
• Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range objectives/goals/strategies
• Highest degree of organizational skills with ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills and be proficient in communicating in verbal and written formats to effectively interface with guests, team members, negotiate contracts and the ability to work independently
• Computer literate with proficiency in all Microsoft software including Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook

• Exceptional ability to adapt efficiently and effectively to a demanding and changing work environment including flexible hours, handle multiple tasks, manage budgets, balance continuous demands, prioritize projects and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of corporate budgeting practices
• Gaming industry knowledge not required, but an asset
