Payroll & Benefits Administrator

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator, reporting to the Financial Controller, is responsible for the processing of staff payroll, benefits and allowances. He/She will also maintain information from personnel files and prepare payroll related returns.
- Verify associate records with supporting documentation for new hires, current associates and terminated associates as pertains to payroll.
- Ensure payroll for all hourly paid and salaried staff is authorized, verified and processed accurately and in a timely manner using the Resort time and attendance and payroll system (UTA and Ultipro).
- Reconcile any changes made to schedule against the system reports. Report any discrepancies to Departmental Director and resolve accordingly.
- Ensure any manual cheques are processed in the payroll system (Ultipro) to ensure accurate year end information on associate T4’s and employer summary T4 report.
- Enter manual cheques into General Ledger.
- Enter direct deposit and source deduction transfers into General Ledger.
- Liaise with HR Department on Benefit Plan Management.
- Process and reconcile benefits, expenses and allowances.
- Keep a record of all vacation entitlements and usage, outstanding lieu time and sick days taken.
- Compile reports for Departmental Heads showing daily/weekly/monthly labour costs.
- Ensure any manual payroll source deductions are processed accurately and remitted on time.
- Ensure third party garnishments are remitted in a timely manner each pay period.
- Ensure RRSP and Savings Plan contributions remitted each pay period and entered into the General Ledger.
- Balancing of GWL invoices and preparation for payment.
- Creation and entry of payroll Journal Entry into the General Ledger.
- Calculation and processing of monthly payroll related account accruals.
- Monthly reconciliation of payroll related balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain records in compliance with current legal requirements.
- Assist with any associate enquiries relating to their payroll and/or benefits.
- Ensure strict confidentiality is upheld regarding individuals pay related information at all times.
- Attend any training that is required and approved by Management.
- Adhere to Resort Health and Safety Policies at all times.
- Any other duties as required by Management.
THE INDIVIDUAL
.
- Post secondary education in payroll or business administration.
- Completion of Canadian Payroll Association Supervisor Certification.
- Ultipro Payroll and Time and Attendance software user an asset.
- Time and attendance program experience.
- Working knowledge and experience of a payroll scheduling system an asset.
- Proficient user of MS Office applications.
Experience
- 2 years Canadian and Alberta payroll and benefits experience.
- Experience within the hospitality or gaming industry an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi task in a fast paced deadline driven environment.
- Self-starter comfortable working both in a team environment and independently.
