River Cree Resort and Casino is a full-service/state of the art hotel and entertainment establishment located

on the Enoch Nation (outside of Edmonton, Alberta).  The Junior Accountant is involved in creating a culture based on outstanding customer service and customer loyalty

THE ROLE

          

  • Completion of gaming operations daily activity reports.
  • NRT reconciliation.
  • Enter daily journal entries.
  • Assist with non gaming operations daily activity reporting.
  • Assist with accounting filing systems including payables and contracts.
  • Distribute invoices to Department Heads for authorization and coding.
  • Accurately enter invoices into the system ensuring the correct authorization and coding.
  • Checking of vendor statements to ensure all invoices are processed in the correct accounting period as far as possible.
  • Assist with any vendor enquiries relating to their account and resolve as soon as possible.
  • Prepare bi-weekly and ad hoc cheque runs.
  • Prepare cheques requests.
  • Completion of credit applications prior to approval.
  • Cover other team roles when not in the office for vacation, illness etc.
  • Play an active role in month end inventory counts.
  • Maintain records in compliance with current legal requirements.
  • Attend any training that is required and approved by Management.
  • Adhere to Resort Health and Safety Policies at all times.
  • Any other duties as required by Management.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • Grade 12 High School diploma.
  • Actively seeking a career in Accounting.
  • Proficient user of MS Office applications.
  • Strong excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Timberline or Sun Systems an asset.
  • Office working environment experience.
  • Experience within and understanding of the hospitality or gaming industry an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to multi task in a fast paced deadline driven environment.
  • Self-starter comfortable working both in a team environment and independently.
  • Detail oriented and a keen learner.
