Financial Controller

THE ROLE
The Financial Controller, reporting to the Director of Finance, is responsible for managing the day to day accounting functions of the resort. He/she will also assist in the preparation of all required financial statements and reporting for both internal and external purposes.
JOB SUMMARY
- Preparation of daily flash report for the resort and key stakeholders.
- Assisting with the preparation of month end financials, ready for consolidation in conjunction with the Director of Finance.
- Ensure compliance with all charity and gaming regulatory reporting.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Reconciliation of inter-company transactions for shared services.
- Responsible for reconciling of operational accounts including inventory.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the resorts accounting policies and procedures.
- Create meaningful reports to assist all departments within the resort to improve results.
- Coach, supervise and mentor other accounting team associates to encourage growth and career progression.
- Maintain records in compliance with current legal requirements.
- Assist with any accounting enquiries and resolutions.
- Develop into a “Super User” for the many systems used resort wide.
- Attend any training that is required and approved by Management.
- Adhere to Resort Health and Safety Policies at all times.
- Any other duties as required by Management.
THE INDIVIDUAL
- Accounting diploma or degree. Actively pursuing or has a Professional Accounting Designation.
- 5+ year’s supervisory level accounting experience.
- Proficient user of MS Office applications.
- Detailed knowledge of GL, accounts payable, payroll, capital asset, budgeting, forecasting and full cycle accounting.
- Timberline knowledge and use an asset.
- Experience within the hospitality or gaming industry an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Ability to multi task in a fast paced deadline driven environment.
- Self-starter comfortable working both in a team environment and independently.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be accurate and demonstrate attention to detail at all times.
