ASHL League Manager

THE COMPANY

THE ROLE

Under the direction of the Sales Manager, the League Manager is responsible to plan and supervise the operation of the Adult Safe Hockey League operations, including the supervision of league conveners, customer service, scheduling, administration of the league, compiling the league stats, marketing and promotion of the league, and ordering of the necessary equipment/supplies for the operation of the league.  Strong dotted line responsibility to the National Vice President-ASHL.

  • Prepares budgets for submission to the General Manager for the league operations, administering and controlling the Annual Operating Plan for the league operations, approves all expenditures associated with the league operations,
  • Prepares team playing schedules,
  • Hiring of part time conveners, referees, timekeepers and other league staff, when necessary,
  • Supervise and provide staff training as required for the staff reporting to this position,
  • Responsible for the collection of all team/player registration fees,
  • Daily administration of the league operations,
  • Interpretation of League Rule Book,
  • Overseeing the inputting, and completing when necessary all statistical information as applicable to the website;
  • Providing customer service to the teams, conducting team rep. meetings, as required,
  • Conducting and administering referee clinics, and providing updates and evaluations of the refereeing staff as required,
  • Scheduling of the referees and timekeepers,
  • Arranging for payment of all independent contractors and payroll for part time staff associated with the league operations,
  • The League Manager will assist with facility tournament operations, as required.  This will include referee and timekeeper scheduling as well as convening duties during the events.
  • Acting as a resource for league staff, problem solving as required.
  • A key member of the facility management team, will also provide MOD duties.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • 2 years successful experience in a Sports related business in a supervisory level position. A thorough knowledge of hockey operations, and the practices associated with operating a league. 
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in a hockey league environment or other related industry. 
  • Ability to interpret a rule book and administer in a fair manner the rules and penalties associated with operating a multi-team league,
  • Accounting and budgeting experience,
  • Ability to standardize and harmonize skill levels in teams and make the required adjustments in a positive customer service approach,
  • Computer knowledge, marketing experience and strong customer service qualities are required for this position.
  • Strong Conflict Resolution Skills.
  • Ability to balance the needs of multiple steak-holders.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, must possess the “wow” factor.
  • Graduation from a College in the Sports/Leisure Services Administration field,
  • Strong marketing and customer service ability. 
  • Ability to work with a team and be a member of the facilities management team.
